I don’t know if you read the blurbs during the install but I particularly liked the part about Vista fixing itself. Prior to this, I did every one of the previous solutions listed in this thread with no luck and this one worked so I assume you are in the same boat but obviously some solutions worked for some of us but not others so I’d hoped this was the final solution.
The audio driver is there: Gigabytes version is 5. Hey guys, this machine came with XP but I installed Vista Home Basic 32bit and while there are drivers for this on HP’s page, an audio driver is not included.

Now any drivers, including your conexant sound card driver should be able to reinstall itself properly on reboot The sidebar is very handy for me, not a huge deal but for xb400 I used to have to double click the time to pull up a calendar frequently to find the date, now it’s part of my sidebar.
I guess they never did fix this Howerver, I now have a problem with my Bluetooth driver, says it cannot be loaded. If this works then the only issue is that when you reboot you will need to hit F8 at startup everytime in order to get sound. It’s a bit annoying I know, hopefully once Vista ships these companies will ship signed drivers.
